The Election Is Over: Stop Bitching & Let's Work Together. Blue + Red = Purple

This is my one political post. But It's not about party politics - it's about people in both parties working together for everyone in The United States - Not just the blue /red ones.
######

Ok, the election and is over and whether or not you are a Democrat a Republican or anything in between, everyone needs to stop bitching and putting your opposing party down and start working together instead of against..
I don’t want to hear about the popular vote (does anyone remember the 2000 election?) or the electoral college - I’m talking to you @therealdonaldtrump.
I don't want to hear how horrible Republicans are or how Dirty Democrats are - BOTH SIDES have to STOP.

What’s done is done - We have to move forward - TOGETHER.
I’m sick of party politics, and I’m sick of the US Vs THEM mentality that comes with it.

We have to put aside or differences, compromise & learn to work IT out!

It’s time for the Blue and Red to combine and become Purple, to become one and work together - Because lord knows our country needs us to work it out and get it together.
And I don’t want to hear that it can’t be done, either.

First of all: We are THE UNITED STATES. Not The States That Are Blue And Red.
And I don’t want to hear that Dems and Republicans can’t work together - That’s bullshit, people - and here’s why.
First:  And this is where Diabetes shows up in the my post as a prime example of people from different diabetes parties coming together.
The Diabetes online community is a mix of people with Type 1, Type 1.5, type 2  and Type 3 diabetes. And there was a time in our diabetes history where these groups NEVER worked together.

There was (and there still is to some degree - but it’s getting better because of the DOC, IMHO) an animosity between the types.

Look, I was guilty of diabetes party politics myself. I was mad when people assumed that I had type 2.  And I will admit that before I became an active member of the Diabetes On-Line Community, I blamed people with Type 2 Diabetes - and I am both sorry and regretful.
I can’t change the ignorance of my past, but I can educate myself and change my future - and hopefully the future of others.

I learn and love from people with type 2 diabetes and type 1.5 Diabetes (who I didn’t even know existed until I became part of the DOC,) and I’m proud and blessed to call them my friends and fellow Diabetes Advocates.

TOGETHER we all work to educate the public about living with diabetes.
TOGETHER we bust diabetes myths and perpetuate diabetes realities.
And TOGETHER, we are the faces of Diabetes

So don’t don’t tell me working together can’t be done - I know it can - And not just on a Diabetes level.

I was born of mixed religion parentage and raised in the great and resilient state of New Jersey - A state that everyone on planet earth has always made fun of.
For years NJ has been called the ‘arm pit” of the Statue of Liberty & by people who have never even visited our state - which is much bigger than it looks, btw.
Everyone expects New Jerseyans to be crass and stupid -And that’s not the case.
People from New Jersey are hard working, smart, giving and incredibly tough.

And like people living with diabetes - New Jerseyans are incredibly resilient - Because we no choice but to resilient.

And like many states up and down the eastern seaboard, our state and its people were hit hard by a hurricane named SANDY.
Personally, I know people who have lost their homes, businesses and worldly possessions due to Sandy. And here’s a news flash: Sandy didn’t give two shits as to whether you were a Republican or Democrat.
And the people of New Jersey who helped their neighbors out didn’t check to see what  political party they belonged to before they extended a helping hand.

And NJ’s Governor Christie, a Republican (who I wasn’t alway a fan of,) has won me over with his actions, BIG TIME.
WHY? Because Christie worked WITH (and continues to do so) with President Obama.
Both men put party politics aside - Because in the end it isn’t about politics - It’s about the people that make up these UNITED STATES.
Its about the people that the politicians represent - And that fact tends to get lost a lot of the time.

And it's time for all those in the government to remember who they work for.... And why.

So stop with the division already and start working on mending fences and working together.

As a citizen of these UNITED STATES, I demand that The President, Congress & the Senate put on their big girl and boy panties and start working TOGETHER for WE THE PEOPLE.
Not we, the Blue State or the Red State People, But for ALL the people who make up these UNITED STATES.

Blue + Red = Purple - Remember that!
And remember that the Preamble doesn't mention anything about being a Republican or a Democrat, or whether you prefer blue or red.
It's all about the people~

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
The Preamble of The United States~

Perfect. Totally perfect.
Also, I had to memorize the preamble when I was in 7th grade. I still remember it to this day, and at times it makes me very emotional. There is a lot of power and a lot stated in that short little paragraph.
