Today's Diabetesalicious Holiday giveaway is a gorgeous necklace from one of the DOC's own, the wonderful Alecia Wesner - Fanastical Diabetes Advocate & Blogger At SurfaceFine, and an AMAZING Jewelry Designer who happens to have a heart as big an Manhattan!
Today's giveaway: Alecia Wesner's Little Branch Necklace in fine silver ~ |
Since nobody can do a better job of describing todays' giveaway then the designer herself:
This is my version of peace in the form of an olive branch necklace.
What appears to be a hollow twig sliding along sterling silver cord is a unique necklace
I created through a process of sculpting with and oxidizing fine silver.
This process created a bark-like texture that is further accentuated through its finish.
This one-of-a-kind "branch" floats freely along a wrapped silver cord & the entire piece has a slight aged/darkened patina. -Alecia Wesner
The "branch" measures approximately 1/2" Long and approximately 5/16" Diameter. Cable necklace is 16" long with a magnetic closure.
18 cable necklace is available if need.

It is beautiful, I would love to have it to remind me to have hope and strength! Type 1 for 13 years!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this beautiful piece of jewelry for either my teen t1d or my t1d sister.. I love the "peace" reference.. both, like all t1d's, struggle to maintain that necessary balance and peace within while dealing with the daily rigors of life with T1d.
ReplyDeleteI would like this necklace because the branch reminds me of a strong, steady tree. I am a tree person. And yes, I hug them when I need a bit of comfort.
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous! I know my T1 teen daughter would love this for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! It'd make a great conversation piece too!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful piece! I've had T1 fir 12 years now
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win this because right now ... I am at peace with having a daughter with D. Does it mean I'm not working for a cure? NO! Does it mean I think it's okay? NO! But it does mean that I'm going to live well and help her live well despite it. At peace ... for now.
ReplyDeleteit's just a beautiful piece of art...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I'd love to win this because tomorrow is my 15th Diaversary, & I need a pick-me-up.
ReplyDeleteHi-- Not looking to win, so don't enter me in the drawing. I just want to second everything you said about Alecia. She's an amazing cheerleader for all of us!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win this necklace not only because it symbolizes peace, but because the olive branch is also a symbol for victory. As we fight every day for a cure for our 3yr old CWD, it would be a nice reminder that each day is a victory over T1D:)
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful necklace and it would be an honor to be able to wear it. I have had T1 for 55.5 years.
ReplyDeleteI am always looking for a good, simple wear with anything necklace, and one that has such a great message and proceeds from sales towards diabetes would be even better!
ReplyDeleteits a little brank on the huge tree we are all part of...and i would like to feel a part of something, as much as the next guy...that, and it is frickin' GORGEOUS!! thanks for the opportunity to own this little piece of Artistry
ReplyDeleteI'd love to own this necklace because I'm really in need of some inner diabetes peace right now! Diabetes for 16 out of 17 years has taken it's toll, and I need a good solid reminder that this is just an awkward diabetes phase.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely beautiful! As someone who has T1 and is also a diabetes educator, part of my job is to help create peace in a person's life around their diabetes, and help them make educated choices for better D management. This necklace would help dress up my biz cas clothing, and remind me that a continuous part of my job is to CREATE peace :)
