So Is It Mr Sandman Or Diabetes That's Screwing With Me?

This morning I woke up (begrudgingly) and rubbed the sleep from my eyes, except I still felt there was still sleep left in my right eye. Am I making any sense here?

I looked and the right eye and it was clean and didn't look irritated, so I had that going for me.

I showered & washed my face and looked again- NOTHING.
But I still felt like something was in there.

I rinsed my eye with saline solution, and it still felt like something was there.

I put on my glasses (no contacts today for me) and went off on the road to start my work day. All day it's been bothering me on and off. And occasionally It would get a bit cloudy.

Now of course, me being me, I'm starting to freak just a bit! Is this Diabetes messing with my vision or did Mr. Sandman decide to eff with me and leave some minuscule particulate to play Diabetes head games with me ?

Plus, and I'm being completely honest, it's been way too long since my last eye exam - which of course makes my freak-out factor even worse.

So that's what's going on, and that's one of the reasons todays post is short -and late.

I would freak out too but I am one to freak out way too early most times.

My advice is (exactly what you are thinking) get it checked out. No need freaking out unless there is good reason to.

I am counting on the Sandy Man!

Well, you SHOULD go to your optho...but not because of this. I forget whether you've had retinopathy issues, but there aren't any outward signs until you have a major bleed, and feeling like something's in your eye isn't one of those signs...(you'd see blurriness, or squiggly lines. You can't feel it at all.) Probably it's just an eyelash or some kind of minor scratch.

So try not to worry too much, but (and believe me, I'm just as bad about this so I'm really being hypocritical here), DO go to your doc, because your eyes are too important to risk... :)

Corneal abrasions usually hurt a LOT, but sometimes you get one and the only symptom is what you're describing.

(Enter, Sandman...and now, GO AWAY!)

Ouchy. I hope your eye is feeling all better soon and that it's just some unseen irritation. BUT maybe make an eye appointment anyway, since you are overdue. (I know, I'm a nag!!)

That does not sound fun K2. Keep us posted. Hoping that it's nothing more than an inconvenience. And YES - get your butt in for a regular D eye exam too!

Eye doctors are our friends. Mine is fabulous--if you were in Chicago I'd send you to her. One thing about wearing glasses; the eye doctor is the one doctor I'm religious about going to, since my rx always changes. And I have allergies and sinuses and I always seem to have something in my eye. It may be nothing, but a trip to the optho should be up there on your to-do list. (After all, I want you to see straight when you make those mojitos...after we drink them, well, that's another story...)

K2, It could be something else unrelated to DM (like a cataract) , but you won't know until it's checked out. It's always something, but no need to panic!! BTW, I can't wait to see your new glasses!!
