Diabetes Face

Sometimes I feel like I have diabetes written all over my face - And not just because I wear my pancreas clipped to my hip, either. Honestly, it’s so much more than that.
It’s the wondering and the checking at every turn - Not to mention a multitude of diabetes frustrations in many forms.
It’s seeing a cute handbag and wondering if there’s enough room in there to put all my diabetes crap - And it’s checking and rechecking all the time (and regardless of whether or not Im carrying a cute a cute handbag) to see if I actually have all my diabetes crap.
It’s wondering what my blood sugars are and how my labs will turn out.
And it’s checking said blood sugars time and time again - even when I don’t feel like.
And wondering if other people see the  diabetes worry, wonderment and frustration that I wear on my face like some people wear eye shadow.

It’s being frustrated with numbers in the forms of blood sugars, carbs, a1c’s and the likes of of.
And it’s being frustrated to the point of being incredibly angry at the way diabetes and people with diabetes are portrayed in the media.
Sometimes I shout/blog: Get a clue, THIS is what people with diabetes look even when feel like I’m banging my head against a media build diabetes brick wall.

Bottome line: On the outside and the inside, diabetes is with me always -it’s a part of me, both mentally physically.

But along with all the Diabetes worry, wondering and frustration. Diabetes has also brought me some wonderful things. Diabetes has brought me my voice because if I don’t speak up for my diabetes and I, who will??
And because of my Diabetes, I was able to find the Diabetes On-line Community.
A community that shows me that I am one of many PWDs with strong voices and hearts the size of New Jersey and no matter how alone or frustrated I can feel when it comes to my life with diabetes - I don’t have to deal with it by myself because I have you - and you, and you, and you, and you!!
Singularly, I am just another brick in a DOC wall of strength - One of many that when aligned together build a strong foundation of Diabetes fabulousness, advocacy, ownership & validation on a global level - And that my friends is a wonderful thing~

So as long as long as I have the DOC, I'm OK with having Diabetes Face~
