I love Pizza, I know most of us do. But....THIS is disgusting!
This craptacular pizza creation is the real deal, and is served in various Pizza Hut's throughout Japan. Pizza Hut Japan's exclusive Double Roll pie is a crazy 646 calories per slice! Minuscule bacon wrapped sausages (hot dogs) do a line dance across the crust, and mini hamburger patties sit on top of a pile of mushrooms, soy beans, corn, paprika, garlic chips, green peppers, and pepperoni.
Behold the power of cheese....as in mozzarella, cheddar and parmigiana ensconcing the pizza in a cheesyfied wrap.
Let's not forget for even one second that the pie comes with sides of both ketchup and maple syrup for extra flavor, and is recommended for the kiddies to slather on their slice!
Other Calorie Info from Pizza Hut
A medium pizza is 1943 calories and a large is 2809 calories.
So regarding Diabetes Math:
How much insulin do you think you'd have to bolus for this?
Would you use a square or duel wave????
How many grams of fat for one serving?
And for how many days would one be running to bathroom after dining on said "mess of a pizza?"
Personally, It really just grosses me out to think about it. I have no desire to try this "craptacular" creation. Blood Sugar Nirvana would be difficult to achieve, not to mention any and all gastrointestinal issues one would certainly have after ingesting such a monstrosity!
Thoughts????

Eeeeewwwwww - grossed thing I've ever seen!!!! No desire to try that one either.
But, how DO you begin to estimate dual-wave bonuses? After about 3 weeks pumping, I've tried a few times and failed miserably. Once ended up too high, another too low - I'm like Goldilocks. I need to get it just right!
That is a wild pizza. That's their idea of American food??
I've never been more disgusted ...
in my local Pizza Hut for not having this on their menu. Yum!
Yuck! That would totally make me sick. Give me a brick-oven spinach & garlic pizza any day!
Karen -
Totally Gross! As far as figuring out your duel-wave, talk to a CDE and experiment with their help. However, I am sure that that this meal would most certainly require a temporary basal rate!
Shannon - Yes, apparently Americans only eat hot dog; bacon, hamburgers, maple syrup, ketchup, mushrooms, garlic, and massive doses of CHEESE !
Carey -
Write "The Hut" and bitch all about it! Maybe they could do a trial run of the Japanese Super American pie in Philly. after all, we were voted America's fattest city a few years ago.
Naomi -
Totally Yucksville! However, the brickoven pie of which u speak sounds totally fantastic!!

Gross!! OK, so I know I'm like 50 years late on this because I am a computer illiterate who doesn't know how to get my comments emailed to me... but NO... you can not taste the spinach in the smoothie, which is WHY I'm drinking spinach and not eating it the old school, brave way! haha. Seriously, a banana hides all the vegigetableness. (I just made that word up)
Take care!!!!
Windy -Yes, the pizza is gross.
I will try the green smoothie, per your rec!
Kinda looking forward to it, kinda not!
Holy cow!!! That is unbelievable.
Perhaps they should market it as "A Heart Attack on a Plate!". Get it while it is hot.
wow..I can't believe that....
Hmm, how about a quadruple-wave bolus plus a super-stretch-armstrong-extended basal rate?
And we all thought Pizza Hut was gimmicky in the US...
Adam -
Holy cow is right!
"Heart attack on on a plate"is fettacinni Alfredo, this Pizza Hut monster is more like quadruple bypass via an 18 wheeler!
Hannah - Hmmmm, funny you should say that, because.....I forwarded the link to this post to our good friend Gary Scheiner at Integrated Diabetes Services and he said, and thus is a direct quote:
"For that pizza, I'd have them bolus about 60G per slice as an
extended (square) bolus, and raise the basal by about 80% for the next 8 hours. Not simple, but it works." - That's some fancy numbering the both of you done did!

People in Japan do the darndest (is that a word?) things. I LOOVVEE Pizza, but I can't control myself around it. I think I COULD control myself around that...that...thing. LOL (A cat could be sleeping in there!)
My friend Cheryl, a kickass CDE wrote me regarding this post, and here's what she had to say.
"Hopefully you're joking! Whether someone has diabetes or not, I would not recommend this, it's just not kind behavior toward one-self. And where do you go from there?!
But if you are really serious I guess for the gm of carb and dual wave 50% now, 50% spread out over 6 hours. And then probably on top of that 150% increase in basal overnight just because it will probably be necessary."
Thanks Cheryl!!
