Dear Diabetes: What's With the Bitch Fit?

Dear Diabetes:

What’s with the “Bitch Fit?”

This morning I woke up tired and with a blood sugar of 209 – not terrible but not how I like to start my day.

Last night before bed you decided to surprise me with a low (which I didn’t even feel) of 62. And before that, my numbers had been on the low side since Friday, which I chalk up to being a woman. Ladies, I think you know what I’m talking about- the whole 28 day cycle thing. I swear I could a dozen chocolate cupcakes with Vanilla and Coconut icing and still not get above 111 for those 4 or 5 days a month. That Mother Nature can be such a BITCH!

Diabetes, pardon my French, but make up your f^c$ing mind and get with the program!

I test between 10 and 15 times a day- religiously- and have the callused fingers to prove it!

I don’t like it when you decide to go all medieval diabetes just because you can.

I don’t care if it’s your prerogative-it’s not mine!

Today is a travel day for work and I don’t want any drama from you. No highs that make me feel like I’m walking through J-E-L-L-O or lows that make me break into a cold sweat and feel numb all over. Or worse yet, you decide to be all symptom free re: the lows and I feel nothing, like last night.  I WON’T HAVE IT, so don’t even go there again.

I want to be middle of the road and drama free. I’m watching you- I’ll be checking my numbers and you’d better be in Blood Sugar Nirvana range.

There, I’ve put it in writing and you’ve been warned.

I’M DONE AND I'M WATCHING YOU.

Kelly~

I feel ya. The whole cycle bs. The whole low last night (did not feel myself dropping) then waking to a 230 or something. Sigh.

I love it! I feel you on the Aunt Dottie and the cravings she brings along with her!

Bitch fit! I love it! Unfortunately, I don't get lows from Aunt Flo; one day of a little high before it begins, then I'm back to as normal as one can be during that "time of the month." Of course, the cravings of sugar, salt, sugar, salt don't do the numbers any good...

Gawd, Yes! I've had it crazy from last night when I actually had some cereal at night. I bolused, did all I was s'posed to, but roller coaster all damn night :-(

It would be wonderful to have the D play along with us for a while.

Wooooo! I was on this same roller coaster yesterday-- high, bolus, CRASH, treat, high, bolus, rinse, lather, repeat.

Well diabetes is hard enough for me as a man, I'm glad that I don't have to have the whole 28 day cycle thing. I would say I know how you feel, but I definitely don't. Good luck.
