The lilly books would be a god send right now for my almost 10 year T1D son. He loves sports but feels that he has to try and hide that he has diabetes for fear that he won't get picked or played as often. I tell him every single day that diabetes does not control who he is or what he can do. He is an amazing baseball player that has great eye and hand coordination. I think seeing and reading about other kids with diabetes doing what they love without the fear of a disease is just what the doctor ordered!

I would like a backpack to give to one of my 4-H members who is dealing with diabetes. I don't know what type she has but I know that most times, she is singled out as someone who has something different that normal kids but this would let her know she is still special in our 4-H eyes.

I would love to win this for my daughter. She is 6 years old and is struggling a bit this year in her first grade class because she did not know many of the kids and they don't quite understand why she wears "that machine" (insulin pump) this package would be especially great if she could share a book with her classmates. Thanks for considering! (saege002@umn.edu) and i really think this is such an awesome thing to do for our kiddos ;)

My 5 year old with diabetes could use this...and the books would come in handy for show and tell days at school! It would help his friends know what to expect and it would help him to be an "expert" on his own disease.

We would love to win the bag because we are always out doing fun things and need a bag to keep him organized (especially when he is out with Daddy and there's no purse for his stuff). The books would be a huge bonus because my CWD likes to read about kids like him and I think my younger, non-CWD would enjoy learning a bit about his brother's diabetes from the point of view of Mickey Mouse and his friends!

It's wonderful to be able to share these books with the kids so that they do not feel alone. To contact me email tamar@carbdm.org
